The timeless North. Northern Vietnam brings together a deep sense of history and some of the country’s most recognisable landscapes. In Hanoi, old neighbourhoods, temples and local life sit naturally alongside one another, while Ha Long Bay opens into a completely different world of water and limestone islands. An overnight cruise gives you time to slow down and enjoy the quieter side of the north.
Colours of Central Vietnam. Central Vietnam feels warmer, brighter and more playful. Hoi An is at the heart of it, with its old houses, riverside streets and hundreds of lanterns glowing after sunset. Beyond the town, coconut waterways offer a glimpse of local life, while the mountains around Da Nang bring a change of scenery and the chance to see the coast from high above.
The stories of the South. In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s more recent history comes into focus. The city carries many reminders of the events that shaped the country, while still moving at a distinctly modern pace. The Cu Chi Tunnels take that story beyond the city, offering a closer look at the ingenuity and resilience of those who lived and fought underground during the war.

Day 3: Full Day Ninh Binh (Tam Coc & Hoa Lu Temples)
Morning, meet our guide and transfer to Ninh Binh province - located 110km from Hanoi to the South, Tam Coc Cave may be one of the most spectacular sights in Vietnam. Along the Hoang Long River, vast limestone cliffs rise out of the rice paddies make Tam Coc somehow similar to Halong Bay, thus Tam Coc is also called Halong Bay – on-land. A river trip to Tam Coc and through three caves of Tam Coc is wonderful for photo hunters, especially when local residents come to harvest the rice planted along the river or when they transplant seeding for the next crop.
Next to Tam Coc is Hoa Lu, the relics of the ancient capital of Vietnam in 10th century. What remains are temples dedicated to the two heroes: King Dinh and King Le whom chosen Hoa Lu to build the citadel of the capital city. Though the temples are not wholly maintained, some precious antiques are still preserved well like: the whole-stone dragon thrones; wooden has-relieves and lacquered statues of King Dinh, King Le and Queen Duong Van Nga who in turn got married to both of the Kings.
Then continue to visit Bich Dong pagoda, an ancient three tiered cave pagoda only accessible by steep stone steps, but it is really worth climbing up for a charming pagoda and stupendous view from the top.
By the end of afternoon, transfer back to Hanoi and free at leisure in the evening.

Currently and payment systems
Vietnam uses the Vietnamese Dong (VND) for most daily transactions. While some places may accept USD or EUR, it’s not very common, so it’s always more convenient to pay in local currency.
Cash is still widely used, especially in local markets and small shops while credit cards are accepted at hotels, malls, and more upscale restaurants, sometimes with a small surcharge.
ATMs are easy to find in cities and tourist areas, so withdrawing cash is generally simple and convenient.
