Day 3: Full Day Ninh Binh (Tam Coc & Hoa Lu Temples)
Morning, meet our guide and transfer to Ninh Binh province - located 110km from Hanoi to the South, Tam Coc Cave may be one of the most spectacular sights in Vietnam. Along the Hoang Long River, vast limestone cliffs rise out of the rice paddies make Tam Coc somehow similar to Halong Bay, thus Tam Coc is also called Halong Bay – on-land. A river trip to Tam Coc and through three caves of Tam Coc is wonderful for photo hunters, especially when local residents come to harvest the rice planted along the river or when they transplant seeding for the next crop.
Next to Tam Coc is Hoa Lu, the relics of the ancient capital of Vietnam in 10th century. What remains are temples dedicated to the two heroes: King Dinh and King Le whom chosen Hoa Lu to build the citadel of the capital city. Though the temples are not wholly maintained, some precious antiques are still preserved well like: the whole-stone dragon thrones; wooden has-relieves and lacquered statues of King Dinh, King Le and Queen Duong Van Nga who in turn got married to both of the Kings.
Then continue to visit Bich Dong pagoda, an ancient three tiered cave pagoda only accessible by steep stone steps, but it is really worth climbing up for a charming pagoda and stupendous view from the top.

Have your camera ready to capture the picturesque Japanese Covered bridges, originally designed by the Japanese community to link them with the neighboring Chinese quarters. Walk through the historic town. As the streets of the old town are very narrow, cars are not permitted in the historical center. Start with the 200-year-old Tan Ky House, a beautiful home that has been lovingly preserved over seven generations. Currently and payment systems
Vietnam uses the Vietnamese Dong (VND) for most daily transactions. While some places may accept USD or EUR, it’s not very common, so it’s always more convenient to pay in local currency.
Cash is still widely used, especially in local markets and small shops while credit cards are accepted at hotels, malls, and more upscale restaurants, sometimes with a small surcharge.
ATMs are easy to find in cities and tourist areas, so withdrawing cash is generally simple and convenient.
